Who we are
This Privacy policy describes how Sifter Studios (“we”, “us”) processes personal data when you use Familendar (the “Service”), including this website and our applications. We act as the data controller for personal data described here, unless we state that another entity is controller (for example, your employer if they provision accounts for you).
Contact: use the Support options at familendar.com and we will route your request appropriately.
Data we collect
We may collect: (a) Account and profile data, such as email address, display name, and authentication tokens or identifiers from sign-in providers you use; (b) Content you create in the Service, such as calendar events, lists, tasks, and similar information you choose to save; (c) Technical and usage data, such as device type, app version, approximate location derived from IP if needed for security or localization, and diagnostic or log data to operate and secure the Service; (d) Payment-related data when you purchase a subscription: our payment processor (such as Stripe) processes card and billing details—we receive limited information (for example subscription status, receipt metadata, and customer identifiers) as needed to fulfil the contract.
Purposes and legal bases
We use personal data to provide and improve the Service, authenticate users, sync content across devices, communicate about your account or transactions, secure our systems, comply with legal obligations, and analyse aggregate usage where we have a legitimate interest (always balanced against your rights). Where we rely on consent (for example optional marketing communications, if offered), you may withdraw consent at any time. Contractual processing covers providing Familendar to you as a user.
Sharing and subprocessors
We share personal data with service providers who process data on our instructions (for example hosting, email delivery, payment processing, error monitoring). They may only use the data to perform services for us and are subject to appropriate contractual safeguards. We may disclose data if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable law. We do not sell your personal data.
International transfers
We and our subprocessors may process data in the European Economic Area and in other countries. Where data is transferred outside the EEA/UK, we use mechanisms recognised under applicable law (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions) where required.
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including to resolve disputes and meet legal, accounting, and reporting requirements. After you delete your account or specific content, we may retain backups for a limited period and certain records where law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Norway: Datatilsynet). To exercise rights, contact us via familendar.com Support. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
Children
Familendar is designed for family use. Where a child uses the Service, a parent or guardian should manage the account and consent on the child’s behalf where required by law. If you believe we have collected data from a child inappropriately, please contact us.
Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we encourage you to use strong passwords and protect your devices.
Cookies and similar technologies
This marketing site may use cookies or local storage necessary for basic functionality (for example language preference, theme, or session management where applicable). We will describe any non-essential cookies in a cookie notice or settings UI if we add them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. Material changes may require additional notice or consent where the law says so.
